Stipendiary Lecturer in Applied Mathematics (3 hours)

St Hilda’s College invites applications for the post of Stipendiary Lecturer in Applied Mathematics from 1 October 2025. No salaried University post is associated with this Lectureship.

Duties of the Post

- To provide three contact hours’ tutorial teaching each week averaged across the 24 weeks of term (each year) to undergraduate students across the University who require tuition in Mathematics and, if required, to St Hilda’s undergraduates reading joint degrees with Mathematics; teaching the papers described in the further particulars (and other papers as required by the Tutorial Fellows in Mathematics), setting and marking internal college exams and regularly monitoring and reporting on student progress:

- To provide pastoral support to undergraduates reading Mathematics in the College by serving as Personal Tutor;

- To participate in the administration of Mathematics within the College, which will include, in collaboration, provision of revision tutorials and classes; playing a full role in admissions, including UCAS form grading and interviews; and assisting in the setting and marking of termly college examinations;

- To take part in activities related to Open Days and the College’s access schemes, which may fall outside of full term.

The salary for the post is £8,284 (point 1) to £8,746 (point 3) per annum (current rates) according to experience and qualifications, and membership of the USS pension scheme is offered. There is a research allowance (payable against receipts) of £315 per annum. The Lecturer will be entitled to five meals per week (either lunch or dinner) free of charge during Weeks 0 to 9 of each term, with additional out-of-term entitlements, for example during the admissions period. The Lecturer will have the use of a shared teaching room in College. They will be a member of the Senior Common Room at St Hilda’s College.

Interviews are expected to take place in the week beginning 30 June.
