Academic Community

The tutor-student relationship is key to an Oxford education and we are hugely proud of our academic community, past and present, who have a profound impact upon the lives of our students. Our community of world-class academics is supported by generous philanthropic funding but rising employment costs mean that this now covers only 40% of annual expenses.

Your gift could help us to:

  • Support and endow posts across the Humanities and Sciences. An extra £5 million would enable us to cover 50% of our academic employment costs.
  • Create Early Career Fellowships, offering teaching and research opportunities to those who are at the beginning of their academic careers. Each Early Career Fellowship costs £50,000 per year and lasts for four years.
  • Foster and support a research environment that drives academic discovery and enriches learning. By creating a global, supportive, and mutually beneficial community of students, academics, and alumnae, we aim to inspire academic growth, critical thinking, and personal and professional development, ensuring that our research and education are at the forefront of positive societal impact.

Recruitment within the quantum computing industry is a formidable challenge. I am delighted to be at the University and involved in teaching at St Hilda’s College, fostering the next generation of professionals in this field.
