We allocate accommodation for new graduates on a first come, first served basis once funding has been confirmed. We own several graduate houses where we can offer rooms to most first- and second-year graduates who want them. Many choose to rent privately. We have a small number of rooms for couples but do not have accommodation suitable for families.
You’ll find some of our graduate accommodation in the streets around St Hilda's near Cowley Road with its independent shops, restaurants and supermarkets. Our other graduate accommodation is in the north of the city, close to the University’s science areas, a ten-minute cycle ride from College.
Spacious and attractively decorated, all our accommodation has well-equipped kitchens and communal areas. Most rooms are very large. Scouts (housekeepers) clean rooms weekly, and empty rubbish bins and clean kitchens and bathrooms. They do not wash your dishes.
Council tax may be due unless all residents are students or have no rights to work or benefits in the UK (then you may be exempt from council tax). Check the rules on council tax here.

University Housing
The University Accommodation Office offers graduate housing for single students, couples and families, and operates housing lists for rooms, flats/houses and shared houses for groups of students. Information about how to apply, availability and rents is available on the University website.
Private Housing
You can choose to find a house through an estate agent or rental agency, which gives you more flexibility in type of accommodation, location and choice of housemates. If you don’t have housemates already lined up or you’re from overseas, this can be difficult to organise.
Contracts are usually for 12 months and cost about £1075 per month for three people and £1500 per month for four people to rent (water, gas and electricity bills not included). You’ll find out of town prices much lower but you’ll need to factor in a bus or train ride into town. Living further afield can also make it harder to integrate into College and University life, particularly the social aspects. Oxford rental agencies and estate agents are the best place to start.
