Undergraduate accommodation

We offer accommodation to all undergraduate students who want College rooms in term time. Students are normally required to vacate onsite rooms during vacations. As continuing students often stay in Oxford to study during the Easter vacation, they may be offered a room in a different building with funding to contribute to any additional cost.

College Buildings

We have four undergraduate buildings on our main site in Cowley Place, and more accommodation in our Jocelyn Morris Quad and at 38 St Giles in the city centre. Our buildings have their own style and character with WiFi available throughout.

First Year Accommodation

Wolfson Building

55 student rooms on three floors with a small kitchen on each floor.

Accommodation allocation

First-year undergraduates are automatically allocated accommodation in either Garden Building, South Building or Wolfson Building. Rooms have a washbasin. The buildings typically have on each floor two to three showers, three toilets and a kitchen. Each floor usually houses 12 to 13 students.

All rooms, with the exception of those off site, are offered on a 27-week licence except for the Jocelyn Morris Quad, currently available to finalists only, on a 40-week licence.

Every College room is regularly cleaned by a college ‘scout’. There are laundries in three of the on-site buildings and at the Jocelyn Morris Quad, with card/mobile pay machines and ironing facilities in each of the buildings.

The College Lodge provides manned 24/7 security and first aid cover.

Rental costs and catering credit

Please see the table below for information about rental costs. In addition to rental costs, all students are required to purchase either compulsory catering credit which can be exchanged for meals in the Dining Hall, or a 'meal deal'. Catering credits may be carried over from term to term but not from year to year. During the Easter vacation and Trinity Term, students may sell or transfer unused credit to other St Hilda's students.
