Deputy Development Director

St Hilda’s College, a constituent of the University of Oxford, has bold and ambitious goals. Our 2024-2029 strategic plan is underway and includes taking philanthropy to the next level. The Edge for Excellence campaign was launched in early 2025 and is centred around delivering the best possible student experience for a rapidly changing world – ‘helping sharp minds find their edge’.

At this exciting moment, we are seeking an ambitious Deputy Development Director. Reporting to the Development Director and managing a dedicated team of four, the successful candidate will be our operational linchpin, bringing an increasingly rigorous and innovative approach to developing and enriching long-term relationships between the College and its community of almost 9000 alumnae and friends. You will also contribute to major and mid-level fundraising, especially in connection with legators.

You will therefore need to be comfortable tasking and developing a compact team that is engaged across fundraising, stewardship and alumnae relations; skilled in servicing volunteer boards and college committees with accuracy and integrity; familiar with budget planning and fundraising compliance; able to lead our communications activities, identify trends in data, where to adopt AI, and to stage great events; and have the presence and empathy to engage effectively with all stakeholders, especially alumnae, donors and academic colleagues.

The role will suit someone with an extensive and adaptable skillset or a fundraiser who wishes to broaden their operational/managerial experience. Equally, you may have more of an operational background and wish to integrate major/mid-level donor cultivation into your career portfolio. Either way, this presents as a prime opportunity for a motivated individual to seize an exciting new challenge within a College that is actively in campaign mode and boasts a truly stunning riverside location!

Please refer to the Job Description for further information about the post, person specification and benefits offered by the College.
