
Biography
Irina completed her BA in Modern Languages at St Hilda’s College and her MSt in Medieval Studies at Wadham College. She has previously acted as a lecturer in French for the Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages.
Irina is a Stipendiary Lecturer at St Hilda’s, teaching Medieval French literature on a variety of medieval topics from 1100 to 1530, and a doctoral researcher working on an interdisciplinary project that examines seafaring exploration accounts in the Late Middle Ages. Irina has worked extensively on travel writing in the Middle Ages in French, Spanish and Latin. Her research interests include medieval and Renaissance cartography, intellectual history, historical writing, material culture and visual arts.
Irina is a co-founding member of the Oxford Medieval Manuscripts Group, gathering a community of emerging scholars from the University of Oxford and beyond, around the study of medieval manuscripts and the art of illumination, current issues and research methodologies through seminars, workshops and curator-led symposia.
