Biography
Henry Tang joined St Hilda's College in October 2026 as a Stipendiary Lecturer in Classics. He is currently also a Lecturer in Classics at Merton College, Oxford and a Tutor in Classical Studies for the Professional and Continuing Education department (PACE) at the University of Cambridge.
Henry’s teaching interests are in Greek and Latin Language; the Latin literature options for Mods in Classics; and the Greats options: Ovid, Latin Core, Early Greek Hexameter Poetry.
Henry’s research is on Latin literature from the early Roman principate, with a focus on interactions between politics and poetry, as well as how epic poems are continuously and creatively formed and reformed. Recent work has also involved AI benchmarking, exploring the ability of Large Language Models (LLMs) to answer questions in Classics at a Higher-Education level.
