Biography
Dr David Tew teaches physical and theoretical chemistry to St Hilda’s chemistry undergraduates.
Dr Tew read Natural Sciences, specialising in chemistry, at Trinity College, Cambridge, graduating in 1999 with first class honours. He obtained his PhD in theoretical chemistry from Cambridge in 2003. He worked as a post-doctoral research associate at KIT in Germany, and held a Royal Society University Research Fellowship at Bristol before returning to Germany as a Senior Scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research in Stuttgart.
Dr Tew lectures undergraduate and postgraduate quantum chemistry at the department of Chemistry and teaches physical and theoretical to St Hilda’s chemistry undergraduates.
Dr Tew’s research focuses on the quantum many-body problem where he develops numerical methods for accurately simulating complex chemical systems to understand and predict their behaviour.
