Dr Becky Carlyle

Biography

As a Tutorial Fellow in Pre-Clinical Medicine, Dr Becky Carlyle teaches a range of subjects for undergraduate medics in Biochemistry, Neuroscience, and Integrative Physiology.

She has designed and gives the lectures for a Part A course for the University undergraduate Biomedical Sciences degree on “The Molecular Basis of Neurodegenerative Disease & Dementia”. She also lectures on Proteomics and Biomarkers for the MSc in Neuroscience.

Dr Carlyle’s research focusses on the integration of different types of molecular data (transcriptomics, proteomics) from the brains of people with dementia and mental health problems. Her goal is to understand the cellular changes that leave us susceptible to neurodegeneration and neuropsychiatric disease, and to identify biomarkers of disease progression for improved clinical diagnostics and treatments.
