Celebrating the 11th Annual Come and Sing!

12 March 2026

Last week we celebrated the 11th Come and Sing performance at the University Church of St Mary the Virgin.

St Hilda's choir and orchestra was joined by 28 alumnae, all conducted by Dr Jonathan Williams, Director of College Music at the magnificent church. Dr Williams said, "I would like to congratulate everyone who took part in this year’s Come & Sing held on Saturday. When I began the Come & Sing events in 2015 I could have no idea that the concerts would become so successful, so to hear almost 100 musicians making music together – at such a high standard – and to see such a large audience at our celebration of the richness of the musical life of college was just wonderful. I’m already looking forward to the next!"

St Hilda's choir soprano Alice Wallace (2023, Classical Archaeology and Ancient History) said, "I enjoyed singing in ‘Come and Sing’! It was a lovely event composed of incredible performances by individual Hildabeasts and the Choir’s singing of Fauré’s ‘Requiem’ to the accompaniment of Hilda’s Orchestra, flanked by engaging discussions with alumnae about the past and present of St Hilda’s"

Alumnae also very much enjoyed the event, they said "we enjoyed the concert very much - there are certainly some hugely talented choral scholars in residence" and "what a privilege it was for us to sing alongside such talented musicians!".

We look forward to seeing students, alumnae, members of the college and others to next year's event.
