Biography
I did my bachelor’s degree at the University of Edinburgh where I studied cell biology. For my doctoral research I joined the Liz Miller lab at the MRC LMB in Cambridge. My project focused on understanding the principles of assembly of the COPII coat, which I performed through a combination of genetic and biochemistry-based approaches.
I then decided to apply my cell biology background to studying viral infection. For this, I joined Sumana Sanyal’s team in Oxford at the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology in 2021. In 2022 I began an independent project within the Sanyal lab funded by the Early Career Award fellowship from the Wellcome Trust. My work is focused on host-pathogen interactions in the context of viral infection and the infection induced changes to organelles. I use a variety of cell biology and biochemical techniques to understand how organelle contact sites are altered during Zika infection.
I joined St Hilda’s in 2024 as a lecturer in Biochemistry.
