This year, we are pleased to invite our Offer-Holders to visit St Hilda's College in person on Saturday 1 March 2025. We very much hope you can make it and we are looking forward to welcoming you here!
Offer-Holders' Day will provide you with the opportunity to meet current students, as well as other Offer-Holders. You'll have the opportunity to talk to lots of different people, ask any questions that you may have, and get the chance to have a tour around the college. A free lunch is included. Please note that the day does not include meeting subject tutors.
For Offer-Holders, arrival for the day starts at 11am, for a prompt 11:30 start on Saturday 1 March 2025.
You are welcome to bring one parent/carer/supporter with you. Your parent/carer/supporter should arrive from 1pm, arriving no later than 1:25pm, for a prompt 1:30pm start. There will be tea/coffee on arrival.
The formal programme for the day will finish for both groups at around 2:45pm. At 2:45pm there will be further refreshments available and the opportunity to walk around the grounds with your guest if you wish to. We do ask that you leave the college by 3:15pm, as we have other events taking place later in the day.
If you do wish to have a guest join the parents'/carers' session, please do make sure you include this on the reply form. We won't be able to take additional guests on the day who haven't pre-registered. Due to room capacity, we are only usually able to invite one guest per Offer-Holder. However, if there are access needs/caring responsibilities that mean that this one guest per Offer-Holder cap would prevent you from attending, please do email us at undergraduate.admissions@st-hildas.ox.ac.uk before the RSVP deadline and we will try to help.
Please respond to our invitation, even if it is to let us know you can't join us. Please RSVP using the form below, by Sunday 9 February 2025. The form is at the very bottom of the page. You won't get an email confirmation, but the page will show a message to confirm you've submitted your reply.
Please note, attendance at this event is purely optional and is offered as an additional way of finding out about life as a student at Oxford and St Hilda’s before you start.
We will be in touch with those who have registered, by email, prior to the event with joining instructions. You can expect to hear from us by end of play on Wednesday 26th February.
Don't forget, the Offer-Holder webpage is also full of lots of useful information. Please do read through it if you've not done so already.
- How do I get to the venue? Can I park?
-
Please see the 'find us' page.
You are strongly encouraged to use the Park and Ride. Details via the above link.
Please note that a section of the Botley Road is currently closed to all traffic. It's fine to access the College from the train station, but we suggest not using the Seacourt Park and Ride.
We are only able to offer parking where an Offer-Holder or their guest is a Blue Badge holder. Please mention this in the relevant box on the RSVP form.
- Can I stay at the college overnight in order to attend the event?
-
The event is being held during term-time so we do not have any onsite accommodation available to be booked by visitors.
- Will my guest attend the same sessions as me?
-
No. Offer-Holders will follow one programme, and your guest will follow a programme of sessions designed for parents/carers. You will be reunited at the end of the day.
You are welcome to stay a bit longer on the college grounds if meeting up with your parent/carer but please ensure you have left the college site by 3:15pm.
- Is lunch included?
-
Our Offer-Holders will have lunch in the college dinning hall, alongside some current students. There is no charge for this lunch.
Lunch is not provided for guests, but there will be drinks and snacks available.
- What should I wear?
-
This is an informal day and we are not expecting to you dress up! We recommend casual attire; jeans and trainers are absolutely fine. Do ensure you are comfortable to be walking around the College site. A lot of the student-led College tour will be outdoors, so check the weather and dress accordingly.
- What should I bring with me?
-
We encourage you to bring a bottle of water and a pen. Refreshments will be provided on arrival for all Offer-Holders and guests. A hot meal in our Dining Hall will be provided at lunchtime for Offer-Holders.
- I booked for a guest to attend, but I need to change the name I provided for them.
-
If you have pre-booked a guest, and need to change the name of the person attending, that's fine. Please ask your replacement guest to report to the lodge at the guest arrival time. They will need to provide their own name and the name of the person they are replacing.
- Are there any alternative dates, or online sessions available?
-
We hold this event once a year and invite the students who hold offers to start with us at St Hilda's in October. We don't offer alternative dates, or an online option.
Attendance at this event is purely optional and is offered as an additional way of finding out about life as a student at Oxford and St Hilda’s before you start. If you can't attend the day, but would like to visit another time please see the section titled 'visiting the college' on the Offer-Holder webpage.
- I hold an Open Offer from St Hilda's. Should I still attend?
-
You're very welcome! Many of our Open Offer-Holders end up staying at St Hilda's. However, even if you are allocated to a different college in August, we hope that you will find the day useful and enjoyable. Although there are differences between the colleges, much of the information you will receive will be relevant no matter which college you end up at. Also, it's a good chance to meet Offer-Holders on the same course as you.
