The third of the International Piano Series concerts held at the JdP this year features a special opportunity to hear Alexander Gavrylyuk, the Ukrainian-born pianist who now lives in Sydney, Australia, whose whole way of addressing the piano has been compared to the Russian school of pianism. In a programme worthy of Vladimir Horowitz, Gavrylyuk opts to conclude with one of his signature pieces, Mussorgsky’s ‘Pictures of an Exhibition’, which he played in his debut performance at the Wigmore Hall and was lauded for its ‘immense command, pianistic colour, dazzling technical assuredness and deep understanding...’
