Two performances of the same programme: 4.30pm & 7pm
Following the successful launch of our well-loved early music series at 38 St Giles Chapel last year, we are thrilled to invite The Gonzaga Band – consisting of soprano Faye Newton, cornettist Jamie Savan and keyboard player Steven Devine – for an occasion that celebrates the launch of the the group’s latest CD, ‘Love’s Labyrinth’. This wonderful programme explores the development of a new highly-expressive style in Italian composition and performance practice, contrasting the exquisitely wrought madrigals of Monteverdi with the lively dance rhythms of popular canzonettas.
