The lecture will take place at 5:30pm in the Jacqueline du Pré Music Building and will be followed by a drinks reception and our a formal dinner in the Pavilion at 7:30pm.

This lecture series was established in honour of alumna Sue Lloyd-Roberts CBE (History and Modern Languages, 1970), the award-winning broadcast journalist whose uncompromising and courageous documentaries highlighted humanitarian issues across the world.

This year, we're very excited to be welcoming Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe to St Hilda's. Nazanin is a British-Iranian activist who was detained in Iran in April 2016 and was held hostage there for six years. She was released and returned back to the UK in March 2022. Following her release, she has spoken at schools, charities, and public events, sharing her journey of resilience and what it means again to be free. Nazanin currently lives in London with her daughter and husband, and has been writing her book A Yard of Sky, which has been dramatised on the BBC as Prisoner 951.

Lecture tickets are free, but as this is a fundraising event, we do ask for a suggested donation of £20 per ticket towards the Sue Lloyd-Roberts Fund. The Fund supports an undergraduate bursary, named in memory of Sue Lloyd-Roberts CBE (History and Modern Languages, 1970).
