Watch Rameau’s Castor et Pollux, directed by Director of College Music, Jonathan Williams
When not keeping busy as our Director of College Music, Jonathan Williams runs the Rameau Project exploring the extraordinary music of the most important composer of the French Enlightenment, Jean-Philippe Rameau.
The most recent phase of his research culminated last term with the UK premiere at the Sheldonian Theatre of his new edition of Castor et Pollux, described in Opera Magazine as being ‘of captivating vigour and elegance’. Thanks to generous support from TORCH, the concert was recorded and is available to stream on demand during the month of July on the Music at Oxford website.
And if you enjoy Castor et Pollux don’t miss Composer of the Week on Radio 3 this week when the featured composer is…Jean-Philippe Rameau!
