Virginia Crowe Memorial Fund

Virginia was a much-loved member of the St Hilda’s community, and remained connected to the College throughout her life.  A talented student, Virginia came up to read History in 1959 and not only flourished academically but she made friendships that were to last a lifetime. With the support of her family and friends from College, we now seek to recognise Virginia’s contribution to St Hilda’s, including as Chair of the Association of Senior Members Committee, and the tremendous impact she had on so many people by raising funds for a bursary in her name.

Bursaries are a priority that was close to Virginia’s heart – she understood the importance of enabling talented students from financially disadvantaged families to take up and make the most of the opportunities available during their time at Oxford.

In order to create the memorial award, we must raise a minimum of £3,750 to provide a bursary of £1,250 per year for three years to support an undergraduate student in difficult financial circumstances.

Considering the strength of affection felt towards Virginia, we are confident we can raise this amount, if not more – in which case we would then be able to continue the award to benefit another student. You can make a single gift to the Virginial Crowe Memorial Fund or a   regular donation. Please select the Virginia Crowe Memorial Fund from the drop-down list.
