Team St Hilda's takes part in Oxford's Town and Gown

16th May 2023

We had a fantastic turnout for this year’s Town and Gown 10km race, with 24 Hildabeasts taking part. Our group, comprised of staff, students, and Fellows, took to the streets of Oxford alongside 4,500 other runners to raise funds for Muscular Dystrophy UK (MDU). They were easy to spot in their matching red running t-shirts, complete with the St Hilda’s unicorn on the back!

Starting at 10am on Sunday 14 May, the race took in some of the most iconic landmarks in Oxford, including the Bridge of Sighs and the Radcliffe Camera, before finishing in University Parks.

Luke Gribbin (Medicine, 2019) was the first St Hilda's runner to cross the finish line, coming in 12th place overall for men. Meanwhile, Elizabeth Apsley (Interdisciplinary Biosciences (BBSRC Doctoral Training), 2019) ran brilliantly and won the women’s race with an impressive time of just 35 minutes 16 seconds.

After the race, the St Hilda's team celebrated their achievements with a complimentary brunch held in College.

Overall, it was a fantastic day and congratulations to everyone who took part!
