Supporting students remotely

Though the physical space is closed, the College Library is ready to support students remotely.

First, check whether what you need is already available online using SOLO. If not, the options available to you depend on whether you need the whole book, or just part of it.

Individual chapters/articles:

If you require only one chapter or 10% of a book (whichever is greater), we may be able to create a digital scan for you. Please email the library with the following details:

  1. Title of book.
  2. Title/number of chapter.
  3. Author(s).
  4. Publisher.
  5. Year of publication.
  6. Course of study for which the scan is being created.

We have agreed to share any scans we create with the Bodleian Libraries so they can be made available to students elsewhere in the University.

Whole books

If you require more than one chapter of a book, and the book is not currently available online via SOLO, please email the library with the following information as soon as possible:

  1. Title/Author/Date (and edition, if relevant).
  2. Which course it is for.
  3. An estimate of many other St Hilda’s students might also be taking that course.

If an online copy is available, we will ask the Bodleian if it can be made available on SOLO. If an online copy is not available, we will look into purchasing additional Library copies to be sent to you directly (issued remotely and processed fully for the Library on return).

Please do not hesitate to contact the Library team about any of the above, or if you have any queries about remote access to resources.
