St HIlda's Feminist Festival 2019

St Hilda's Feminist Festival, organised by our students, led by Women's Officer, Lola Dickinson, takes place in 6th week of Hilary Term. Events, including panel discussions, talks, workshops, comedy and film, are open to all.

  • Saturday 16th 11:30-13:30: Middle Eastern Cookery Class with KAMA, an organisation that enables asylum seekers, refugees, and other migrants to share their passions and teach their skills to the community.
  • Sunday 17th 20:00 - 22:00: Screening of The Black Panthers: Vanguard of the Revolution
  • Monday 18th 19:00-20:30: Panel event, 'Prisons Don't Work', on the experience of women and non-binary individuals in prisons and detention centres and how students can best organise. The speakers are: Sarah Lasoye (NUS Women's Officer), Liz Peretz from Close Campsfield and a speaker from Shut Down Yarl's Wood.
  • Tuesday 19th 19:00-20:00: Feminism, Imperialism and Militarism. Speaker: Vron Ware.
  • Wednesday 20th 17:00-18:00: Panel event on Feminism against Fascism and Borders. Speakers: Maisie Dowesdell, two speakers from Feminist Fightback, and a speaker from Brazilian Women Against Fascism (tbc).
  • Thursday 21st: Transfeminism with speaker, Joni Cohen.
  • Friday 22nd: Sheila Rowbotham on radical feminism in the 1970s. 
  • Saturday 23rd: Panel event on the decriminalisation of sex work with two speakers from the English Collective of Prostitutes, a speaker from SWARM and a speaker from Decrim Now
