Rebecca Stetz Fund
Rebecca Stetz came to St Hilda's in 1991 from the USA to read Chemistry, and stayed on to complete her DPhil. She was a talented graduate who achieved a great deal in her life, going on to complete further graduate studies at the University of Bath and then returning to Oxford to work in the University's Chemistry Department as the administrator for graduate students in the Physical and Theoretical Chemistry Laboratory.
Rebecca made very good friendships while here in Oxford; Katrina Wilson, former trainee librarian at St Hilda's, was one amongst this group. Following Rebecca's death in Oxford in October 2009, Katrina along with other executors of Rebecca's estate, has worked to create a lasting memorial to Rebecca and her father Dr Joseph Stetz, within Hall garden and Hall JCR. An outdoor terrace garden dedicated to the memory of Rebecca and her father was created as part of the refurbishment of Hall JCR in 2013–2014. The Stetz Terrace was formally opened by Katrina on 26th October 2013 to mark what would have been Rebecca's 40th birthday. Guests included friends from Rebecca's college days, current JCR President and Committee members and the current MCR President and Committee members. Take a look at our photos from the Stetz Terrace opening event
Other friends of Rebecca's have established the Rebecca Stetz Memorial Scholarship Fund to assist graduate students of Chemistry at St Hilda's. Friends are invited to contribute this Fund.
