Our Grounds

St Hilda’s has one of the most beautiful settings in Oxford. Our buildings and gardens stretch along the river Cherwell, which flows under nearby Magdalen Bridge. From the lawns, you can enjoy beautiful views of Oxford’s dreaming spires. Our grounds have a hallowed history stretching back to the Middle Ages, when Edmund Rich, the first Oxford Don to be made a saint, used to wander through Cowley fields.

Stroll through our gardens with a virtual tour or take a closer look with our photo gallery. You can take a peek at a summer wedding in our video.

Please be aware that some building work will be taking place from summer 2018 until autumn 2020. From Michaelmas Term 2020, we will have an exceptional new riverside pavillion and a rooftop garden for your drinks reception with wonderful views of Oxford's skyline.
