HRH Princess Astrid of Belgium visited St Hilda's College as part of a Belgian economic mission to the UK
We were honoured to welcome HRH Princess Astrid of Belgium and HRH Princess Elisabeth of Belgium, Duchess of Brabant, to St Hilda’s College. Princess Astrid visited St Hilda’s as part of a Belgian economic mission to the UK where she is representing the King of Belgium. The College is one of the venues that will host the mission, which is taking place 8 – 12 May. Princess Elisabeth, the direct heir to the Belgian throne, is currently studying at Oxford University and joined her aunt at this occasion. St Hilda’s Principal, Professor Dame Sarah Springman, and Vice Chancellor of the University of Oxford, Professor Louise Richardson, were delighted to meet Princess Astrid, Princess Elisabeth and the mission’s participants, including ministerial delegates and representatives from companies, universities and research centres, when they visited our College.
The economic missions are jointly organised by the three regional agencies responsible for promoting trade relations and investment (Flanders Investment & Trade/FIT, Brussels Invest & Export /hub.brussels, Agence Wallonne à l'Exportation/Awex), the Foreign Trade Agency and the FPS Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation. The programme for this mission, the first to take place in person since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, focuses on both traditional and new sectors in which the UK and Belgium can strengthen each other.
