Dr Lorenzo Tancredi

BA, MA University of Bologna, PhD University of Zurich

I am a theoretical high-energy physicist. I studied at the University of Bologna and obtained my PhD from the University of Zurich. I held postdoctoral research fellowships at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and at CERN, before moving to the University of Oxford with a research grant from the Royal Society.

I tutor undergraduate mathematics and physics classes.

My main research interests lie at the interface between mathematics and theoretical physics. I work in developing a new physical and mathematical understanding of so-called “scattering amplitudes”, which constitute the main building blocks to study the scattering of particles at high energies, as the ones happening at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
