A'Whora performs at Plush for St Hilda's students
St Hilda's undergraduates, Caitlin Stark, Polly Lavelle and Charlotte O'Neill, have organised a performance and meet and greet with A'Whora, one of the stars of Drag Race UK, for their fellow students on Monday 24th May at Plush, Oxford.
Caitlin, Polly, and Charlotte have achieved this major coup in their roles as Entertainment (Entz) Officers on the College's Junior Common Room Committee. In the final term of a challenging academic year, and with support from the College, they are delighted to be able to offer a spectacular evening that celebrates the inclusivity that St Hilda's is known for.
Caitlin, Polly and Charlotte said:
This year has been hard for everyone, and therefore we are so happy to be able to provide this event for Hilda's students, as well as the wider university community, to look forward to. We know we aren't the only ones who will say that season 2 of Drag Race UK, when it aired earlier this year, was a huge source of fun and positivity which helped us get through a difficult lockdown and so this feels like a dream come true!
The first tranche of tickets for St Hilda's students' exclusive show has sold out. Further tickets are available to students at the University of Oxford at a cost of £14. This includes a meet and greet with A'Whora, as well as entry to Plush nightclub, from 10.30pm-2.30am. Tickets can be ordered from St Hilda's Entz from Thursday 20 May.
Being able to meet and watch a performance from a queen as amazing and high profile as A'Whora is going to be a once in a lifetime experience, which the support of our College has helped to make possible.
We also have to mention how excited we are to be able to express our support and admiration of drag as an artform, especially with its strong LGBTQ+ links. Plush, the venue of our event, is a designated LGBTQ+ space and we couldn't be happier to be able to provide an event which celebrates this wonderful community.
