2019 Founder's Day Service and Drinks Reception
Founder's Day Service of Thanksgiving and drinks reception
Canon Brian Mountford officiating and the Bishop of Bristol, the Rt Revd Vivienne Faull, preaching
St Hilda's College holds our annual Founder's Day Service close to St Hilda's Day (17 November). On this occasion we recollect our Founder, Dorothea Beale, and give thanks for the benefactors who have enabled the continuation of the College since 1893. In this our 126th year we hold the celebration in the University Church and welcome Bishop Vivienne Faull (History, 1974) to give the sermon. The programme includes the rousing opening chorus from Purcell’s Come, ye sons of art, and the haunting new setting by third-year musician Tom Carr of Caedmon’s Hymn, plus the first chance to hear the newly appointed Music Scholar perform.
All students, alumnae, and the whole College community are invited to join us for the service and following drinks reception.
The event is free but please register in order to attend.
