Education & Community

Education Programme

The JdP aims to unlock creativity and nurture a love of music among the young. Through active music-making children develop listening skills, concentration, creativity, intuition, perseverance, self-confidence and sensitivity towards others. Such skills and attitudes support learning in other subject areas and are essential for life.

The JdP organises Cushion Concerts, schools workshops and concerts, family concerts and special projects using the artists performing in the JdP's own concerts.

Cushion concerts

Initiated in 2004, these monthly Sunday concerts, for under 5's and for over 5's, are led by Mark Hooper, a noted musician and teacher. Each concert explores a different musical instrument and allows children and their families to observe, listen and interact with the musicians at close range in a fun and informal atmosphere.

For the current programme, see JdP Events/current programme/children's concerts.
