Update on Transforming Our Site

24th June 2017

On 19 May 2017, 4pm - 8pm and 20 May 2017, 10am - 12pm, we held a Public Exhibition to display our plans for transforming St Hilda's College site. This took place in the Jacqueline du Pré Music Building Foyer. We made a further presentation to our Senior Members and friends of the College on 24 June 2017. You can find the latest information that we have shared about the concept designs in downloadable links on this page. The images here reflect ‘work in progress’ from Gort Scott and the latest options under consideration for the buildings.

We want to add new buildings and facilities to St Hilda's, to ensure that the College will in time have a physical presence to match its world-class research and scholarship. We intend that our major programme of investment will ensure that our students’ experience is second to none and that St Hilda’s will continue to be a College in a garden with a beautiful river frontage and uplifting views.

The development of our site began in 2015 with an international design competition, expertly managed by specialist architectural firm, Malcolm Reading Consultants. From a highly competitive field, the College chose award-winning architects Gort Scott to work with us to achieve our aims. Since then, we have liaised with members of Oxford Design Review Panel and Historic England to develop our vision.

A team of representatives from Gort Scott and from St Hilda's were at our Public Exhibition to answer questions before we met with Oxford Design Panel Review at the end of May 2017, and again at our presentation to Senior Members in June 2017.
