Motion & Meaning with Ensemble Klang and Leading Contemporary Dancers' 'showing' at the JdP Music Building
A week of collaborative workshops culminated in a performance, or 'showing', of Motion & Meaning on 6 July 2018. DANSOX (Dance Scholarship Oxford) joined forces with the Liveness, Hybridity & Noise new music series for this multi-disciplinary presentation of new works: 'CUE', by our alumna, Anna Appleby, 'Grim's Ditch' by Joel Baldwin, 'How many eyes do we have then, being two...') by Joseph Currie, and a new instrumental piece by Sophie Sparkes. The works explored new possibilities of 'motion and meaning' through contemporary music and dance. Five dancer/choreographers (Malgorzata Dzierzon, Estela Merlos, Patricia Okenwa, Liam Riddick and Piedad Albarracin Seiquer) worked with the composers, leading contemporary music group, Ensemble Klang, and several audio-visual artists to develop the works during a residency at St Hilda's College. An exhibition by the painter, Simon Klein, and sculptor, Guillaume Klein was on display for the week-long residency.
