How to Apply

Graduate applications are made in the first instance to the appropriate University department. Please see the University website about applying for graduate study.

Please consult the University course guide to check the entry requirements for your course and the types of supporting materials that you will need to submit as part of your application. As a minimum, this will include your CV, an academic transcript and three academic references. You may also be required to include a statement of purpose or research proposal; written work; and documentary evidence of your proficiency in English.

Courses and Subjects

We accept students for all courses where we have existing or related activity or expertise, so that College Advisers can supplement the guidance given by your faculty or departmental Supervisors. Graduate applications are made in the first instance to the appropriate University department. Please see the University website about applying for graduate study. The list of possible courses for graduate study at St Hilda's is extensive. You can see which colleges offer certain courses via the University's A-Z course list.

St Hilda's has tutorial (and professional) Fellows in most subjects as well as Junior Research Fellows and Post-Doctoral Fellows. Most Fellows act as faculty or departmental supervisors, as well as College Advisers for St Hilda’s postgraduates. (Note that you do not have to be at the same college as your Supervisor).

College Preference

You can state a college preference on your application form or, if you have no particular preference, you can let Graduate Admissions assign a college for you.

If you are offered a place on a course by a department or faculty then you will be guaranteed a place at a college or hall. Colleges will consider your application only after you have been accepted by the appropriate department or faculty of the University.
