Graduate Trainee Library Assistant (Fixed Term)
The College seeks to appoint a Graduate Trainee Library Assistant on a fixed-term contract from 1 September, 2018 (or as soon as possible after that date) until 31st August, 2019. Candidates should have a minimum of a 2.1. honours degree or equivalent and should be intending to proceed to a postgraduate library/information studies course.The University has an established training programme (following the SCONUL Code of Practice) in which the appointee would be expected to participate. There will be the opportunity to attend other relevant staff development activities where appropriate. We are looking for a flexible individual with good communication skills and a positive attitude to IT.
The Trainee would be expected to carry out general library duties including shelving, processing, circulation, enquiries and acquisitions. The library uses the Heritage library management system; no previous experience of computerised systems is necessary and the appointee would receive training in all relevant procedures.
Hours are 35 per week; there are no weekend or evening duties.
Salary: £17,764 p.a.
