Graduate Trainee Library Assistant
St Hilda's College seeks to appoint a Graduate Trainee Library Assistant, on a fixed term contract until 31st August 2018, commencing on 1 September 2017, or as soon as possible thereafter.
Candidates should have a minimum of a 2.1. honours degree or equivalent and should be intending to proceed to a postgraduate library/information studies course. The University has an established training programme following the The Society of College, National and University Libraries (SCONUL) Code of Practice, in which the appointee would be expected to participate. There will be the opportunity to attend other relevant staff development and training activities where appropriate. We are looking for a flexible individual with good communication and IT skills who would enjoy working as part of a small library team to deliver a high quality service to our users.
The Trainee would be expected to carry out general library duties, including shelving, processing, circulation, enquiries and acquisitions. All library procedures are fully automated using the Heritage library management system in which training would be given.
Hours are 35 per week; there are no weekend or evening duties.
