College and Outreach Events
Each year St Hilda’s runs events for prospective students, including our College Open Days, which are run in concert with Oxford University Open Days. Each of these events includes sessions for prospective undergraduate applicants, teachers, and parents. Visitors can come and talk to our Admissions Tutor, current undergraduate students and see the College first hand on any of the three days. There is no need to book a place to attend one of our Open Days, which will take place on Wednesday 27 June, Thursday 28 June and Friday 14 September 2018. Find further information on our Open Day webpage.
Individuals are more than welcome to come and visit the college at other times of the year. Just call or email to let us know when you’d like to visit.
St Hilda's also offers ‘Experiencing Oxford Days’. These are taster days designed to give Year 10 students a general ‘flavour’ of student life at the University of Oxford and what it might be like to study here.
A sample timetable is as follows:
- 10:30am: Welcome to St Hilda’s College & Oxford talk.
- 11:00am Q&A with current undergraduates
- Tour of the college
- 12:15pm: Lunch in a college hall with current students
- An academic taster session / Museum session
There will be a limited capacity of eight students each from three schools per event. The events will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis. Teachers may be helpful to consider students who are on track to achieve at least 3A*s at GCSE. Please contact our Recruitment & Schools Programmes Officer Hannah Rolley to request a date. Hannah will get back to you as soon as possible with either a confirmation or to rearrange the date.
St Hilda's has always been a keen supporter of the Oxford UNIQ Summer Schools and is pleased to be welcoming students again this year. These Summer Schools provide week-long academic courses in a wide variety of subjects and are free for Year 12 students studying at UK state schools! The courses are spread across a three-week period in July and August. Applications are now open and further information about the 2015 UNIQ Summer Schools can be found on the UNIQ website.
Each year the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford organise a series of joint Oxbridge conferences for Year 12 (or equivalent) students and their teachers/HE advisers. This fantastic event provides up-to-date information on the application and admissions procedure at both institutions as well as an insight into student life. Your students can meet with admissions tutors, undergraduates, observe mock interviews. They will also find out more about individual subjects and student finance including available bursaries and grants. For more information, go to the student conferences website.
